Safety & Travel ConditionsEgypt’s main tourist sites — Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Hurghada — are safe for American travelers and have been for many years. The Egyptian government prioritizes tourism security heavily. You’ll notice tourist police at major sites, dedicated tourist lanes, and well-established infrastructure for foreign visitors. We monitor conditions daily and will always tell you honestly if anything has changed. The US State Department currently rates Egypt as Level 2 (Exercise Increased Caution) — the same rating as France, Germany, and much of Europe, primarily due to isolated incidents nowhere near tourist areas.
With a private guide and structured itinerary, solo female travel in Egypt is very manageable. Having a private guide rather than joining a group tour makes a significant difference — you’re not navigating public spaces alone. We recommend modest dress at religious sites (we’ll tell you exactly what to wear). Most of our solo female travelers report feeling safe throughout. October through April is ideal for most travelers — mild temperatures, manageable humidity, and full access to outdoor sites. Summer (June–August) in Luxor can reach 110°F (43°C), which is brutal for extended outdoor touring. We run tours year-round but strongly advise most American visitors to avoid July–August unless they’re heat-tolerant. November, March, and April are our most popular months — if you’re targeting spring break or Thanksgiving, book early.
Pickup Locations & LogisticsYes — this is one of our most popular options. We offer hotel pickups from Hurghada, and transfer to Luxor is included in your package. The drive takes approximately 3 hours through the Eastern Desert. Many American travelers book a Red Sea resort stay first and then join us for Luxor — it’s one of the most efficient ways to combine beach and ancient history in a single Egypt trip. Pickup times are arranged based on your tour schedule and hotel location.
Absolutely. We offer hotel pickups from Cairo. For the Cairo-to-Luxor transfer, you have two options: (1) Domestic flight — EgyptAir Cairo to Luxor, approximately 1 hour, typically $60–100 USD — this is what we recommend for most travelers. (2) Road transfer — approximately 8–10 hours through the Nile Valley. Most guests prefer the flight. We can arrange everything; just let us know your preference when booking.
It depends on your itinerary. Most American travelers fly into Cairo International Airport (CAI) — it has the most direct US connections (usually via European hubs like Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, or Doha). If you’re starting with a Red Sea stay, Hurghada International Airport (HRG) is your entry point. We’ll advise you on the best arrival/departure points for your specific package when you contact us.
Visas & Entry
Yes, but it’s simple. American citizens can get a visa on arrival at Cairo, Hurghada, and Luxor airports — it costs $25 USD (pay in cash). Alternatively, you can apply online for an e-Visa before travel at visa2egypt.gov.eg — also $25. We recommend the e-Visa to avoid lines on arrival. The visa is valid for 30 days. We include a visa assistance service for all clients — we’ll guide you through the exact steps before you travel.
Your US passport is all you need. Egypt has no restrictions on American passport holders beyond the standard visa requirement. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date — standard for international travel. That’s it. We’ll confirm all entry requirements for your travel date when you book.
Start by contacting us — via the form on this page, WhatsApp, email, or by scheduling a free video call (Zoom or Google Meet). We’ll confirm your dates, group size, and interests, then send you a custom quote. Once you’re happy with the plan, a 25% deposit holds your dates. No payment platform needed yet — we’ll walk you through the payment process step by step. Balance is due before your departure.
We accept all major online payment methods through Square, including credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All pricing is in USD. We never ask for cash-only payments or wire transfers to personal accounts — if you ever receive a request like that, contact us immediately to verify.
Your 25% deposit is non-refundable. 60–31 days before arrival: 50% penalty. 30–16 days before: 75% penalty. 15 days or less: 100% penalty. The remaining full balance is due 65 days before arrival. If you need to reschedule rather than cancel, contact us and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Essentials: Lightweight, breathable clothing (avoid synthetic fabrics in heat). For religious sites (mosques, churches): shoulders and knees covered — scarves/shawls work. Shoes: Comfortable closed-toe walking shoes — you’ll be on sand, stone, and uneven surfaces. Sun protection: High-SPF sunscreen, hat, and UV-blocking sunglasses — non-negotiable from March onwards. Cash: Small US dollars or Egyptian pounds for tips, market purchases, and optional extras. We’ll send you a full packing list when you book.
Egyptian food is excellent — and your included lunches will introduce you to it properly. Don’t drink tap water — bottled water is provided during excursions and is cheap and readily available everywhere. Stick to bottled or filtered water for brushing teeth too if your stomach is sensitive. Most travelers have no issues. Dietary restrictions: Let us know in advance and we’ll ensure your included meals are appropriate.
For a 6-day tour, we suggest budgeting roughly $200–300 USD cash for tips, optional extras, personal shopping, and meals not included (dinners). Your guide will give you a realistic breakdown for your specific itinerary. US dollars are accepted widely at tourist sites; Egyptian pounds are useful for smaller purchases. We’ll advise you on the current exchange rate before your trip.
